WE BELIEVE the sacred intellectual property of Animist traditions — creation stories, ceremonies, and oral teachings — reveals the Universal Order and teaches the protocols of reciprocity, balance, and how to be a Good Relative, uniting the human, natural, and spiritual worlds in communication and relationship.

WE BELIEVE the Universal Order is expressed through the relationships of all living beings. These relationships are guided by awareness, respect, and the recognition of our interconnectedness.

WE BELIEVE by incorporating Animistic perspectives, we learn the ways of communication, cooperation, and balance that sustain ecosystems, deepen ecological health, and guide our place in the Multiverse.

WE BELIEVE Animism supports the understanding and integration of mystical and ultimate existential truths, revealed through experiences that guide us in life’s ultimate questions and unite us in compassion, understanding, and deeper connection with other beings in the universe.

WE BELIEVE our connection to the Higher Power/Divine Creator is deepened through religious practice, which develops our spiritual gifts.

WE BELIEVE our ceremonies, rituals, and protocols are sacred intellectual property, entrusted to us through lineage, elders, and mentors, and also received through direct transmission from the Divine Creator. These practices open the way to mystical experience and communion with the Divine Creator, guiding us to live with love, compassion, and reciprocity.

WE BELIEVE the Higher Power/Divine Creator reveals that love is the most powerful force in the universe and the essence of the Divine, calling us to approach every life situation with compassion and awareness.

WE BELIEVE our community, sacred land, symbols, and sacred objects embody our relationship with the Divine Creator and support us in practicing our faith together.

WE BELIEVE we are called to respect and preserve creation, encouraging others to do the same, and to live as best we can in harmony with all living beings.

WE BELIEVE marriage is a sacred union of consenting adults, founded on love and mutual respect, and built upon principles of equity and compassion.

WE BELIEVE that other religious texts and teachings, insofar as they are consistent with the Higher Power/Divine Creator, offer guidance for how we live and how we practice love and tolerance toward other beings.

WE BELIEVE that renewing and revitalizing our Animistic heritage honors the Higher Power/Divine Creator. Since time immemorial, we have adapted—integrating traditional ecological knowledge and ethnoherbalism with contemporary practices—to sustain, evolve, and thrive.

OUR PURPOSE is to renew and perpetuate Animism, the primordial spiritual path that unites all living beings across the Earth and the Multiverse.

WE INTEND to practice and teach our Animist religious traditions — ceremonies, rituals, oral teachings, and traditional ecological knowledge — entrusted as sacred intellectual property by our lineage and the Divine Creator, and to transmit them through gatherings, retreats, trainings, and sacred ceremonies.

WE INTEND to uphold the Animist path of mystical experience and communion with the Higher Power/Divine Creator, supporting wisdom, reciprocity, and sacred relationship with all living beings.

On Language: 

Sanctuary-Animism, Natural, and Environmental Renewal (SANER) affirms that this Statement of Beliefs reflects a spiritual and religious framework of our Animist traditions existing since time immemorial. We recognize that written language is an inherently limited instrument for expressing the ineffable, mystical, and sacred realities of our faith.

This document exists because the law of the land requires expression in this form. Nonetheless, we affirm that our constitutional right to religious freedom protects our Animist religion in all its expressions—whether conveyed through written words or through ceremony, ritual, oral tradition, or direct communion with the Divine Creator.

Therefore, this Statement of Beliefs shall not be construed as a complete or exhaustive account of our faith, but as a lawful translation of Animism into the language of law, offered in good faith to preserve and protect our sincerely held religious beliefs and practices. Our true religion lives through ceremony, oral teachings, and relationships with all living beings—expressions of the Universal Order that transcend the limits of written language.
